James A. Nepple
James A. Nepple is the owner of NPL Tax & Accounting, LLC, an accounting firm practicing in Western Illinois and Eastern Iowa with offices in Moline and Aledo, IL, and Bettendorf and Muscatine, IA. He received his Master of Laws (L.L.M.) in Taxation from New York University and has been doing accounting, tax planning, and tax preparation for over forty-five years. He started his career with Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young) in the tax department of the Chicago office. Mr. Nepple specializes in pass-through entities such as S Corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Council and serves on its business planning committee and on its employee benefits in the estate planning committee. He is a Best Lawyer in America under Tax Law and Employee Benefits Law, a “Leading Illinois Attorney” under Trust & Estate Planning Law, Tax Law, and Small Business Law, and an Illinois Super Lawyer which named him in the top 50 of Illinois tax attorneys and top 100 of Illinois business attorneys.
Mr. Nepple is active in Junior Achievement, a member of the Iowa Council for Boy Scouts of America, is a past president of the local chamber of commerce and country club, and is active in the state, city, and county Historic Preservation Commissions and has served as their chairman.
An avid bicyclist, Mr. Nepple participated in RAGBRAI’s (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) latest ride across the State of Iowa for the 14th straight year.
Senior Tax Accountant
Andrea is an integral part of our veteran staff, with over 25 years of experience in the field. She graduated from AIC with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administrative Accounting. Immediately after obtaining her degree, she started her career in public accounting. Most of her career has been spent working alongside Tom Lambert, CPA of Thomas L. Lambert, PC from 1994 until 2013 when he sold the practice to James Nepple; then taking on the name NPL Tax & Accounting, LLC.
Andrea helped to make this transition successful, and she is now our senior tax accountant. She provides accounting and payroll services for many various clients, and also assists with the processing and review of over 500 individual and business tax returns on an annual basis. She has extensive experience with QuickBooks and uses it for accounting, payroll and financial compilation. Her career experience has given her the ability to provide helpful tips on how individuals, farmers, and other small businesses can utilize QuickBooks to make record keeping manageable and easy.
Alex Vasquez graduated from St. Ambrose University in December 2013 with a B.A. in Accounting and a minor in Economics. He primarily works in the Aledo office as an accountant and is proficient in bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and tax preparation. He is NPL’s User Interface Simplifier and Informational Technology Expert. Alex is also fluent in English and Spanish.
Autumn is the Tax Assistant at the Muscatine location. She prepares payrolls, is proficient in QuickBooks, and does data entry, sales tax, and tax return preparation. Autumn also answers phones and assists the staff as needed.
Becky is new to the NPL team but not to the tax and accounting fields. She is an accounting and bookkeeping specialist; she is also knowledgeable in QuickBooks and assists with various parts of the filing process during tax season.
Becky worked for Hunt Tax & Accounting for 15 years, ultimately serving as office manager until Hunt Tax & Accounting was acquired by NPL in 2019. Beverly instilled many valuable qualities in her staff regarding how they deal with client needs, with an emphasis on accuracy, compassion, and honesty. These lessons have influenced Becky in all her business practices.
Becky has been married for 25 years and is mother to two boys who keep her very busy.
Kim is also a new member of the NPL staff and serves as a payroll assistant. Along with payrolls, she does payroll taxes as well as accounting. She includes the use of QuickBooks in her processes.
Kim also was employed with Hunt Tax & Accounting for the past 5 years. Working in that environment taught Kim the fine balance of a comfortable but highly professional atmosphere. Despite hectic deadlines throughout the year, professionalism is always emphasized and owed to the client. Kim continues to apply those same standards in her new role at NPL.
In her previous employment, Kim demonstrated strong leadership skills, rising to management positions, including the role of HR manager.
Kim has enjoyed volunteering with the Special Olympics and has had the privilege to golf with the same Olympian for the past 13 years. She was honored to receive an award for her involvement.
Kim grew up right here on the river. She & her husband of 33 years enjoy being out on their boat as often as possible.
